Larry Vuckovich has been fortunate to have played, toured, recorded with some of the greatest jazz artists including Dexter Gordon, Philly Joe Jones, Jon Hendricks, Mel Torme, Tony Bennett, Bobby Hutcherson, Bobby McFerrin & more. His 1980 LP release Blue Balkan ,featuring Bobby Hutcherson, has established him as a pioneer in the US, being the first to fuse Balkan ethnic with American jazz. Last year he received a Lifetime Achievement Award from his former country of Yugoslavia at the Nišville Jazz Festival in Serbia. This information is available on the homepage of his website www.larryvuckovich.com. … He has performed in New York at the top venues, including Village Vanguard with Charles McPherson, Billy Higgins, Curtis Fuller; also at Bradley's with Red Mitchell and at Lincoln Center's Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola with my own quartet.… His wide-ranging solo piano concert repertoire includes Swinging Bebop, Contemporary Jazz, Rare Standards, Balkan Ethnic, Latin/Brazilian, Flamenco jazz, Blues/Boogaloo & more.

KCSM's I'm Talkin’ Jazz

Internationally Acclaimed Jazz Pianist/Composer Larry Vuckovich and KCSM's esteemed DJ Chris Cortez, take the audience on a Virtual Journey of the great clubs in San Francisco area, from the 50s and 60s. This Four-Part Series on KCSM's I'm Talkin’ Jazz, took place Sundays in April, 2020
50s and 60s era was the heyday of the amazing activity that jazz had throughout San Francisco and Bay Area, featuring regularly such great visitors as Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Dizzy Gillespie, Harry James, Sonny Rollins, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Oscar Peterson, and Bill Evans Trios, Dexter Gordon, Wes Montgomery, and many others. Additionally San Fran's resident outstanding musicians as John Handy, Cal Tjader, Vince Guaraldi, Richard Wyands, Dave Brubeck, Brew Moore, Eddie Duran and numerous others, performed frequently. Larry and Chris feature exciting recordings, plus Larry Vuckovich recounts many interesting historic stories from those days, having freshly arrived as a teenager from former Yugoslavia, experiencing the new music, and also having personal connection with those greats. Lifetime Achievement Award Larry was awarded the 2019 Outstanding Jazz Musician award at the Annual 7 Mile House Jazz Fest in Brisbane, CA.

Larry was honored in August at the Nišville Festival in Serbia (8/8/19 - 8/11/19). He received a Lifetime Achievement Award for being the only jazz musician from the former Yugoslavia, residing and performed with numerous greats in the US for over 60 years. Larry appeared at the Nišville Festival in Serbia as a guest soloist with the big band. Larry also presented a jazz piano workshop.
